The One with a Bit of Everything

Hi all! It has been a very long time since I have updated my blog. I would like to give a better excuse, but I can't point to one reason. Some days it is because I am busy, some days it is because I am frustrated with my prosthetic, some days it is because I am in a funk and some days it is because I just don't want to have to think about cancer. So my apologies, but this journey has been as tough on me mentally as it has been physically.

OK back to the regularly scheduled program! I was thrilled to receive clear scans in August!!! It is so odd living your life three months at a time. I will have my next round of scans in November. So for now, I am riding the high from my August scans! I was also given the opportunity to do some publicity work for Atrium Health over the past couple of months. They used my story for publications and a TV interview. I was also given the opportunity to be the Honorary Captain at the Charlotte FC game on August 30th. I presented the game ball before the game. It was a pretty neat experience despite it pouring rain from Hurricane Idalia.

My socket has been a bit of a thorn in my side for a while now. I was measured for a new socket in August. The first test socket came in and was so tight it cut off my circulation. I went earlier this week for the second test socket and it was WAAAYYYYY too big. So we have had no choice but to start all over. I am stuck wearing a socket that is so big that I haven't been able to do any activities lately and some days it is a chore just to walk. However, I am hoping the 3rd test socket will do the trick and I can get back up and going soon. Fingers crossed!

I saved the best for last! Remember back at the beginning of my journey I asked everyone to "Make it Count for Cort?" I decided it was time that I started making things count for myself. Ever since I graduated from high school, it was always a dream of mine to become a travel agent. I was never really able to pursue that dream due to time and financial constraints. Now that I find myself with a little more time on my hands, I decided the time was NOW. I am now a Travel Agent with Magical Adventures Travel. I am so thrilled to be taking this leap. I hope that I can make a successful career out of my dream. I need to ask a favor from all of you. If you could pass along my information to your friends and family, I would be so grateful. Please download the doc below and pass it around to whomever you can. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

That is it for now. Until next time!

Cort
